Hatley's mission is to create well-designed and nature-inspired clothing for the whole family in an ecologically responsible manner.
It started more than twenty years ago with a sense of humor, a talented painter Alice Oldland, her restless husband John and The Little Blue House gift shop in the North Hatley Lake village, Canada.
Alice, inspired by the landscape around her, had just finished a series of paintings with farm animals. In need of a place to show her work, Alice opened a gallery above her gift shop The Little Blue House. John saw that the paintings were well sold and got the idea to make a line of aprons, based on Alice's artwork.
John was right. The sale was a hit and the company Hatley was born a little later. They did their best to deliver the nicest aprons. Hatley soon grew into a company of more than aprons alone. The expansion to clothing was a fact.
When the pension aroused, John and Alice handed over the reins to their three sons. Chris, the eldest, decided that he became president. Nick, the only one who could sign, became the designer. And Jeremy, the youngest, took over the production.
The three brothers let the company grow immensely and developed an extensive children's line and much more.
