A pacifier is a teat without a bottle and is meant to satisfy the sucking needs of babies without giving them food or drinks.
A pacifier consists of a suction part of rubber or silicone, a plastic shield to prevent the baby from swallowing the teat, and sometimes a ring to easily remove the teat.
There are different types of pacifiers: the cherry shape, which is intended to imitate the shape of the breast as well as possible, and the dental, which is better for the coming teeth. For babies who already have teething extra strong pacifiers exist.
